Baseball Game Preview: Jim Thorpe Olympians vs. Northwestern Lehigh Tigers

The Jim Thorpe Olympians are taking a road trip to challenge the Northwestern Lehigh Tigers at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Jim Thorpe came up short against Pottsville on Saturday, falling 11-4. The Olympians haven't had much luck with the Crimson Tide recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Noah Pastor made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Murphy, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, Northwestern Lehigh unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Pen Argyl by a score of 5-4.

Northwestern Lehigh saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Watson Church, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Cannon Fitch was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Jim Thorpe now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Northwestern Lehigh, they suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 12-2.

Jim Thorpe suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to Northwestern Lehigh in their previous matchup back in May of 2019. Can the Olympians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
