Softball Recap: Valencia Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

After losing to Canyon the last time they met, Valencia decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Vikings never let the Cowboys get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Not much got past Carly Kearns, who gave up just four hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Canyon off the board. Kearns has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aubrie Jensen, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Scarlett Carlson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Valencia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Canyon only posted a batting average of .231.

Valencia's record is now 11-6. As for Canyon, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Looking ahead, Valencia will be playing at home against Golden Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings are facing the Grizzlies at the right time seeing as the Grizzlies are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Canyon, they will head out on the road to take on Castaic at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Cowboys will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: the Coyotes will have lost three straight heading into Thursday's game.
