Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Julian Carpenter and Josiah Love Lead Wes-Del to Victory

There's no place like home for Wes-Del, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They took down the Randolph Southern Rebels 64-49 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Wes-Del was led to victory by Josiah Love and Julian Carpenter. Love went 15 for 24 en route to 35 points, while Carpenter went 6 of 11 on his way to 21 points and six assists. The contest was Love's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Becerra, who posted no points along with eight boards and six assists.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Wes-Del was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Randolph Southern only racked up ten assists.

Despite the loss, Randolph Southern still got an impressive performance from Donavon Shinaver, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Dylan Shinaver was another key player, putting up 11 points.

With the win, Wes-Del broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-8. As for Randolph Southern, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Wes-Del has already played their next game, a 60-52 defeat against Cowan on the 1st. Randolph Southern has also already played their next contest (against Daleville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
