Basketball Recap: Skyview Academy Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

If Gilpin County wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played SkyView Academy, they should've done a better job of containing Isaac Dove. The SkyView Academy Hawks took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 96-13 win over the Gilpin County Eagles thanks in part to Dove, who went 9 of 14 en route to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Markus Lloyd, who posted nine points and five steals. Those five steals gave him a new career-high.

SkyView Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.1 points over those games. As for Gilpin County, they are on a 37-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

Looking ahead, SkyView Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Flatirons Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Flatirons Academy sitting on four straight victories and SkyView Academy on seven. As for Gilpin County, they will take on Lyons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lyons knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Gilpin County likes a good challenge.
