Football Game Preview: Newsome Wolves vs. Gaither Cowboys

The Newsome Wolves will square off against the Gaither Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Newsome's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Gaither has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Newsome saw some tournament action on Saturday. They walked away with a 25-12 victory over St. Petersburg.

Sadie Avery was nothing short of spectacular: she threw for 258 yards and four touchdowns. Those 258 passing yards gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Wagner, who picked up 58 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Gaither's offense. They were dealt a 46-0 defeat at the hands of Alonso on Wednesday.

Gaither's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Newsome, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Newsome against Gaither when the teams last played back in April of 2021, as the squad secured a 41-0 win. Will Newsome repeat their success, or does Gaither have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
