Volleyball Recap: Stroudsburg's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Stroudsburg lost against Liberty back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mountaineers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hurricanes. The Mountaineers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Liberty scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-21, 26-28, 25-17.

Cotoria McCarthy paced Stroudsburg's offense, picking up five kills. McCarthy got some help from Olivia Full and her 13 assists. Finally, Madelyn Vargas kept Stroudsburg's defense grounded, leading the team with seven blocks.

Eva Madeira was nothing short of spectacular for Liberty: she had 27 digs and three aces. Those 27 digs gave Madeira a new career-high.

Stroudsburg's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Liberty, their victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-2.

Coming up, Stroudsburg will head out to take on Allentown Central Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Liberty, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Hempfield on the 6th.
