Basketball Game Preview: Coral Gables Cavaliers vs. Miami Stingarees

The Coral Gables Cavaliers just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Miami Stingarees at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Coral Gables knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Miami likes a good challenge.

Coral Gables will head out to face Miami after giving up their first home loss of the season on Thursday. Coral Gables fell to Hialeah Educational Academy 66-60. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Biggie are ranked 54th).

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Miami's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to Northwestern. While the Stingarees didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulls 19-14 in the first quarter.

Coral Gables' loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2. As for Miami, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Coral Gables came up short against Miami in their previous matchup back in January, falling 50-39. Can Coral Gables avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
