Preview: Horizon Hawks vs. Smoky Hill Buffaloes
The Horizon Hawks are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Smoky Hill Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Horizon was fully in charge, breezing past Gateway 79-37 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-15.
Horizon found their leader in underclassman Boaz Wisne, who scored 19 points. The game was Wisne's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyreese Robison, who scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Smoky Hill was able to grind out a solid win over Rangeview on Saturday, taking the game 58-49. Given Smoky Hill's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Rangeview is ranked 164th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Their wins bumped Horizon to 3-2 and Gateway to 2-4.
Horizon came up short against Smoky Hill in their previous meeting back in March of 2021, falling 89-79. Can Horizon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
