Recap: Animas Panthers vs. Reserve Mountaineers
The Animas Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Reserve. Animas was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Reserve apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Friday.
Despite the loss, Animas still got an impressive performance from Diego Renteria, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 0 assists. Renteria hasn't dropped below two steals for 14 straight games. Tallon Marble was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six assists and five steals.
Animas has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season. As for Reserve, their win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-14.
Animas will take on Magdalena at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Magdalena's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten contests. As for Reserve, they will head out on the road to take on Quemado at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Quemado is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
