Volleyball Recap: Massac County Patriots vs. DuQuoin Indians

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Massac County had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the DuQuoin Indians , sneaking past 2-1. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 win the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Massac County got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-12, 22-25, 29-27.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Massac County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kinley Logeman, who had 16 kills. Logeman has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 15 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia McCraw, who had ten kills.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Love Dunklin, who had 17 digs. Another player making a difference was Kenadie Hutchens, who had four digs and 14 assists.

Massac County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 28-8 record this season. As for DuQuoin, their loss dropped their record down to 25-12.

Massac County is on the road again on Tuesday to play Carmi-White County at 7:00 p.m. Carmi-White County will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Massac County surely won't give up without a fight. DuQuoin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
