Volleyball Recap: Tough Loss for Pomona

Pomona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against the Littleton Lions, falling 3-0.

While Pomona was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Littleton's winning margin in every set. The final set scores came out to 25-9, 25-15, 25-17.

Lily Candelarie paced Pomona's offense, picking up six kills. Candelarie got some help from Aleyah Pruitt and her 16 assists. Natalia Grzebieniarz controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Littleton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Addy Giles out in front who had 12 digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Lexi Jacobs, who had 10 assists, four digs, and three aces.

Pomona has now lost 10 of their last 11 games on the road. That's part of the reason why they have a 4-14 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 3-1 D'Evelyn (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 77.9% over those games). As for Littleton, they are now 6-13, having gone 3-2 since their three-game losing streak ended.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pomona will face off against their in-conference opponent Bear Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Littleton is set to challenge their familiar foe Standley Lake at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
