Basketball Recap: Laurel Skates Past Meridian with Ease

Laurel waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Meridian Wildcats 57-15. The Golden Tornadoes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 24 points or more this season.

Kayllis Walker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 50% from the field on her way to 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracelyn Carmichael, who posted four points in addition to seven assists, six boards, and five steals.

Laurel was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meridian only posted three.

Laurel's record is now 9-1. As for Meridian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Laurel will venture away from home to take on Quitman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Meridian, they will be home for the holidays to greet Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
