Football Recap: George Washington Takes a Loss

George Washington and Thomas Jefferson pushed the score to 40-21 the last time they played Thomas Jefferson, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Patriots took a 20-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. Despite 229 more yards than the Spartans, the Patriots couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Despite the defeat, George Washington saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Corey Dobbs rushed for 125 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for 127 yards on seven of 13 attempts. Those 125 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Dobbs.

George Washington is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7. As for Thomas Jefferson, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
