Basketball Recap: Tarboro Victorious

Tarboro won the last time they faced Martin County and things went their way on Friday too. The Tarboro Vikings came out on top in a nail-biter against the Martin County Gators, sneaking past 62-59.

Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kel'Javious Moore, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards. Those 13 rebounds gave Moore a new career-high. Kwahli Basnight was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to 11 boards and three steals.

Tarboro's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Martin County, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-4.

Tarboro and Martin County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Tarboro (ranked 140th) will meet Bertie (ranked 340th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Martin County will square off against Gates County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 243 places (204 vs. 447).
