On the hitting side, Marshall saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Claire Kruse, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run. That hit marked the first that Kruse has got this season.
As for St. Peter, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win they have posted against Marshall since May 3, 2019.
On St. Peter's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Auden Anderson gave up only one earned run on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. With that strong performance, Anderson is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Piper Winters, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Lily Filand was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Marshall didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-0 defeat against Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center] on the 8th. As for St. Peter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-1 victory against Waseca on the 8th.
