Basketball Recap: Omaha Northwest's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Omaha Northwest can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They strolled past the Burke Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 61-43. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 58-18 back in December of 2024.

Leading Omaha Northwest to victory were Abriya Watkins and Jessica Houston. Watkins went 12 of 26 en route to 26 points in addition to eight boards and four steals, while Houston dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Houston has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Johnson, who posted four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Omaha Northwest's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Burke, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Omaha Northwest will face off against Benson at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Burke has already played their next match (against Kearney), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
