Softball Recap: West Greene Comes Up Short

West Greene had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 4-13 to make it six. They came up short against the Grainger Grizzlies, falling 8-0. That's two games in a row now that the Buffaloes have lost by exactly eight runs.

As for Grainger, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.

For Grainger's part, Destanee Davis and Jaylee Nickell did most of the damage at the plate: Davis went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI, while Nickell went 1-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most stolen bases Davis has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Amanda Kledzik, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

West Greene has already played their next contest, an 11-5 loss against Polk County on the 19th. As for Grainger, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 4-1 defeat against Jefferson County on the 19th.
