Baseball Recap: Southwestern's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Southwestern was feeling good fresh off their 13-0 takedown of Shawe Memorial last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rebels lost 11-4 to the Madison Cubs on Friday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Rebels, who until this game were averaging four runs allowed.

Andrew Varble made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Southwestern's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. As for Madison, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Southwestern has already played their next matchup, a 7-4 victory against Rising Sun on the 15th. As for Madison, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 19-0 win against South Central on the 12th.
