Basketball Recap: Tyler's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

Tyler lost to Oak Glen back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Tyler Knights walked away with a 72-61 win over the Oak Glen Golden Bears. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Golden Bears are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Katie Grimm was her usual excellent self, going 12 of 23 on her way to 25 points in addition to six boards and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jules Lattea, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Tyler has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Oak Glen, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tyler will venture away from home to challenge Doddridge County at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Doddridge County comes in on five and Tyler on three. As for Oak Glen, they will square off against East Liverpool at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Oak Glen is facing East Liverpool at the right time seeing as East Liverpool is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
