Baseball Game Preview: Weiser Wolverines vs. Parma Panthers

The Weiser Wolverines will head out on the road to square off against the Parma Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Weiser is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Weiser is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over McCall-Donnelly on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.

Wyatt Black was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Weiser's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-5-1 when he doesn't). Weston Black was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Weiser was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Parma might've scored the first runs on Wednesday, but it was Nampa Christian who claimed the real prize. The Panthers took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost four in a row.

Parma saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Obenchain, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Jacob Mikelson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Parma's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Weiser, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6-1.

Weiser might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Parma in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
