Football Recap: Ventura Skates Past Buena with Ease

Ventura never let their opponents score on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 41-0 victory over the Buena Bulldogs. The match marked the Cougars' most dominant win of the season so far.

Ava Ortman produced another solid effort throwing for 293 yards and five TDs while completing 72.7% of her passes, and also rushing for 74 yards and one score on only five carries. Ortman is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: she's passed for at least four every time she's taken the field this season. Ventura's leading receiver Kaiya Cooke was Ortman's top target yet again, picking up 100 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

The victory was the third in a row for Ventura, bringing their record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.7 points on average over those games. As for Buena, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Ventura is taking a road trip to take on Dos Pueblos at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers' defense has only allowed 5.1 points per game this season, so the Cougars' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Buena, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pacifica at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Tritons at the right time seeing as the Tritons are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
