Claysburg-Kimmel typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Mount Union proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bulldogs 8-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-4 back in April.

Jamon Ranck made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Maddox Hobbs was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Nasir Collins was another key player, earning one run and two stolen bases.

The victory made it two in a row for Mount Union and bumps their season record up to 14-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-7.

Looking ahead, Mount Union will challenge Juniata Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, they will square off against Northern Bedford County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games the Panthers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
