Basketball Game Preview: Bethune Bobcats vs. Granada Bobcats

Bethune hasn't had much luck against Granada recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. We've got a battle between Bobcats coming up.

Bethune is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Saturday. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-44 heartbreaker at the hands of Elbert.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Madilyn Powell, who posted 14 points along with seven boards and three steals. Ariadna Montalvo was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Even though they lost, Bethune smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Granada hadn't done well against South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Granada was the clear victors by a 61-39 margin over South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett]. The Bobcats pushed the score to 49-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots had little chance of recovering from.

Granada is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Bethune, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Bethune was taken down by Granada 63-30 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Bethune, Marissa Valenzuela (who scored 25 points and five rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
