Baseball Game Preview: Tompkins Falcons vs. Hudson Hornets

The Tompkins Falcons will square off against the Hudson Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Tompkins took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Paetow 14-13. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Meanwhile, Hudson narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Little Cypress-Mauriceville 2-1. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Alberto Ibarra spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up ten Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cutter Warren, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Tompkins pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Hudson, their win bumped their record up to 7-8-1.
