Baseball Recap: Ridgeline Wins High-Profile Game Against Mountain Crest

Ridgeline faced Mountain Crest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Riverhawks put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 11-3 win. The Riverhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Cael Kidman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tyson Smith was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double. Maddux Jensen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Ridgeline kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain Crest only managed five hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Ridgeline and bumps their season record up to 15-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Mountain Crest, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-4.

Ridgeline will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
