Football Recap: Liberty-Eylau Falls to Pittsburg in First Game of Season

Liberty-Eylau unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 33-20 to the Pittsburg Pirates on Friday. The Leopards gained 80 more yards on the day, but it was the Pirates that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why Liberty-Eylau lost, don't look at Arian Taylor. Despite the final result, he rushed for 121 yards and two TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Rodney Watkins, who rushed for 89 yards on only 11 carries.

Kord Johnson was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 50 yards and three scores.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty-Eylau will challenge Henderson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pittsburg, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against De Kalb at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
