Baseball Recap: West Wendover's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

West Wendover came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Oasis Academy Bighorns. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Aidien Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Tavian Gonzalez was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Adrian Perez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

West Wendover hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oasis Academy struck out eight times.

West Wendover pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Oasis Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 17-5.

West Wendover will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bighorns: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
