Baseball Recap: Four Straight Road Victories for Wilkes-Barre

Wilkes-Barre won the last time they faced Berwick and things went their way on Thursday too. The Wolfpack walked away with a 4-1 win over the Bulldogs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolfpack.

Nathan Fritz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dalton Flowers was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Hufford, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Wilkes-Barre's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Berwick, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Wilkes-Barre will challenge Pittston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Berwick, they will square off against North Schuylkill at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
