Preview: Holdenville Wolverines vs. Meeker Bulldogs

Holdenville and Meeker are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Holdenville Wolverines will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Meeker Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on January 15th. Hopefully Holdenville is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Meeker in Oklahoma (Holdenville is ranked 64th, while Meeker is ranked 376th).

Even though Holdenville has not done well against Okemah recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Holdenville narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Okemah 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Holdenville has posted yet this season.

Holdenville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Belle Mcfarland, who scored 15 points. Mcfarland continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dah?myah Olden, who scored 12 points.

Meanwhile, Meeker came up short against Stroud on Tuesday and fell 51-40. Meeker has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Holdenville's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Meeker, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Holdenville against Meeker when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 62-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holdenville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
