Middletown takes loss despite strong efforts from Jamia Jones and Bree Gregory

Recap: Middletown Middies vs. Fairfield Indians

The Middletown Middies lost against the Fairfield Indians back in January of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The match between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Middletown falling 46-32. They have struggled against Fairfield recently, as their match on Wednesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Middletown's loss came despite strong showings from Bree Gregory and Jamia Jones. Gregory scored nine points, while Jones scored nine points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gregory has scored all season.

Middletown struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Myka Richardson was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds and five steals for Fairfield. That makes it six consecutive games in which Richardson has scored at least 25% of Fairfield's points. Another player making a difference was Madyson Daniels, who scored two points along with three steals.

Middletown has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Fairfield, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middletown is on the road again on Saturday and play against Lakota West at 1:45 p.m. on January 6th. Lakota West presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Middletown in Ohio (Lakota West is ranked 85th, while Middletown is ranked 423rd). As for Fairfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Oak Hills at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Oak Hills is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
