Softball Recap: Bluffton Tigers vs. Monroe Central Golden Bears
Bluffton's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Monroe Central Golden Bears a 17-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Madyson Sonnigsen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sonnigsen was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, Marly Drayer was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Tressa Renner, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Bluffton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monroe Central only posted an OBP of .318.
The win got Bluffton back to even at 1-1. As for Monroe Central, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bluffton will welcome Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Monroe Central, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Cambridge City Lincoln at 11:00 a.m.
