Gregory-Portland is a perfect 5-0 against King since September of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wildcats will look to defend their home field against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gregory-Portland has five straight wins, King has 14 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Gregory-Portland can attribute much of their success to Cody Adame, who gained 211 total yards and three touchdowns, and Carter Dominguez, who rushed for 117 yards and two scores. The dominant performance also gave Dominguez a new career-high in passing yards (185).
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Gregory-Portland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 374 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 152 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Gregory-Portland's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Bryant Mitchell, Ryder Harrison, and Ethan Tovar, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Miller's side was Angel Reyes, who made 15 total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, King played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Corpus Christi Moody 55-26. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.
Gregory-Portland will have to contain Jordan Davis as he made an impact in King's last game. He rushed for 102 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries. Davis really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run.
Gregory-Portland's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for King, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
Everything came up roses for Gregory-Portland against King when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 63-14 victory. In that matchup, the Wildcats amassed a halftime lead of 35-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
