Softball Recap: Hurricane Beats Uintah for Their Third Straight Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hurricane had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Uintah Utes, sneaking past 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since March 9, 2024.

Austin Terry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Hurricane let Lizzy Horsley and Ruby Seely run wild. Horsley got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, while Seely went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Fuller, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

The win (which was Hurricane's third in a row) raised their record to 14-17. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Uintah, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8.

Hurricane will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Utes: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
