Baseball Recap: Resurrection Christian Comes Up Short

Resurrection Christian extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 13-8 in the process. They fell 5-2 to the Eaton Reds. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Reds from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Resurrection Christian got a good showing from Merick Fisbeck, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Fisbeck has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Vincent Fuller was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season.

As for Eaton, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.

On Eaton's side, Gunnar Garrison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Liam Whalen was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Coincidentally, Resurrection Christian and Eaton will both be playing Basalt the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Longhorns at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Reds will host them at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
