Baseball Game Preview: Morro Bay Pirates vs. Sanger Apaches

The Morro Bay Pirates will face off against the Sanger Apaches at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Morro Bay turned things around against Mission College Prep on Friday. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Royals.

Eli Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Quentin Crotts was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Morro Bay's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 9-2 (and 5-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cruz Wilkinson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Meanwhile, Sanger never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Sanger West as they made off with a 10-0 win. The Apaches might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Morro Bay's victory bumped their record up to 14-12. As for Sanger, their win bumped their record up to 21-6.
