Recap: Windham Whippets vs. Stonington Bears
After a string of ten wins, the Windham Whippets's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 53-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stonington. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Windham has scored all season.
Windham lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Asihja Harris, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Harris has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Hailey Flores was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Windham's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2. As for Stonington, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Windham won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Parish Hill at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Parish Hill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 156th, while Windham is ranked 20th). As for Stonington, they will be playing at home against Tourtellotte at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Tourtellotte has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Stonington will arrive with four straight wins.
