Softball Recap: McAllen Memorial Takes a Loss

McAllen Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They lost 14-2 to the Vela Sabercats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sabercats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 back in March.

McAllen Memorial saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelyn Gallardo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run. Sydney Elizondo was another, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

McAllen Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Vela, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. McAllen Memorial is set to take on their familiar foe Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Vela will challenge rival McAllen at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Sabercats have won four straight at home, while the Bulldogs won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
