Softball Recap: East Lincoln's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

East Lincoln dropped their record down to 12-6 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell 3-0 to the St. Stephens Indians. The Mustangs were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Indians' pitchers proved too tough.

As for St. Stephens, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games.

For St. Stephens' part, East Lincoln's batters probably weren't too happy with Anicka McFarland, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 15 Ks (she gave up three walks). McFarland has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, St. Stephens' victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Addison Smith, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, East Lincoln will venture away from home to square off against Statesville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs are facing the Greyhounds at the right time seeing as the Greyhounds are stuck on an 18-game losing streak. As for St. Stephens, they will challenge West Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.2 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of.
