Basketball Game Preview: Unadilla Valley Storm vs. Deposit-Hancock

The Unadilla Valley Storm will venture away from home to take on Deposit-Hancock at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Unadilla Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Unadilla Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 73-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Unatego last Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (57), the Storm still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Deposit-Hancock suffered their biggest defeat since January 5, 2024 on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Delaware Academy and fell 100-69. Deposit-Hancock has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Unadilla Valley will need focus on slowing down Blake Fortunato, one of several Deposit-Hancock players who made an impact when they last played. He went 9 of 19 on his way to 24 points and four steals. Fortunato's evening made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Micah Simmons, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards.

Even though they lost, Deposit-Hancock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Deposit-Hancock's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Unadilla Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Unadilla Valley came up short against Deposit-Hancock when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 52-41. Can Unadilla Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
