Marion hadn't done well against Alton recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Wildcats blew past the Redbirds 4-1. Marion might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by three goals or more this season.

They hit Alton with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kali Wallace (2), Abbie Dalton, and Carleigh Midgett.

Marion's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Alton, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Marion will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Centralia at 5:00 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Alton, they will challenge Belleville East at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
