Preview: Rio Rancho Rams vs. Atrisco Heritage Academy Jaguars
The Rio Rancho Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Atrisco Heritage Academy Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Rio Rancho focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Rio Rancho faced Cleveland in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Rio Rancho's rough 85-59 defeat to Cleveland might stick with them for a while. Rio Rancho has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jayden Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Chris Lucero was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Atrisco Heritage Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 69-52 to Volcano Vista. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Atrisco Heritage Academy has scored all season.
Rio Rancho has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-5.
Rio Rancho came up short against Atrisco Heritage Academy in their previous meeting back in January, falling 101-97. Can Rio Rancho avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
