Softball Recap: Mt. Shasta Comes Up Short

Mt. Shasta and East Nicolaus squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Mt. Shasta had to settle for second. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 13-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost four in a row.

Mt. Shasta's loss dropped their record down to 13-12-1. As for East Nicolaus, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

Mt. Shasta and East Nicolaus are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Bears will take on Portola at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.46 runs per game on average), something Mt. Shasta will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Nicolaus, they will square off against Quincy at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 2.1, the Trojans 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
