Basketball Game Preview: Union Pines Vikings vs. Richmond Raiders

Union Pines is 0-10 against Richmond since December of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Union Pines Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the Richmond Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Union Pines was able to grind out a solid victory over Varsity Opponent, taking the game 72-63.

Meanwhile, Richmond waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They claimed a resounding 70-40 win over the Braves. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-22.

Union Pines is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Richmond, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

Union Pines took a serious blow against Richmond in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 102-64. Thankfully for Union Pines, Paul McNeil Jr. (who went 15 of 21 en route to 36 points along with eight assists and six boards) won't be suiting up this time.
