Softball Recap: Lamar Triumphs

Lamar came out on top against Bellaire on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Texans took their game against the Cardinals 10-5. For the Texans, this counts as revenge for the 7-1 victory the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

The team relied heavily on Margot Royston, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maureen Faustermann, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lamar kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bellaire only managed six.

The win made it two in a row for Lamar and bumps their season record up to 8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Bellaire, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Coincidentally, Lamar and Bellaire will both be playing Houston Math Science & Tech the next time they take the field. The Texans will host the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Cardinals will host them at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
