Basketball Recap: Mathis Comes Up Short

Mathis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a blow against the Aransas Pass Panthers, falling 91-43. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1310th, while the Panthers are ranked 565th).

Mathis' defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Aransas Pass, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-12.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing George West the next time they take the court. Mathis will host George West at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Aransas Pass will host them at 6:15 p.m. on February 7th.
