Baseball Game Preview: Jamestown vs. St. Elizabeth Hornets

Jamestown hasn't had much luck against St. Elizabeth recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Jamestown will be playing at home against St. Elizabeth at 5:00 p.m. St. Elizabeth took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Jamestown, who comes in off a win.

Jamestown is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Madison. Jamestown's pitcher stepped up to hand Madison a 19-0 shutout on Friday.

Anthony Coonce made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Coonce was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and three runs.

In other batting news, Tate Duncan was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Zack Wells was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, St. Elizabeth was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 8-1 to Blair Oaks.

St. Elizabeth saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Kemna, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. That's the most hits Kemna has posted since back in April of 2024.
