Baseball Game Preview: Timpview Thunderbirds vs. Salem Hills Skyhawks

For the second straight game, Timpview will face off against Salem Hills. The Thunderbirds will host the Skyhawks at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Timpview is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Timpview lost 10-2 to Salem Hills on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Thunderbirds have lost by exactly eight runs.

For Salem Hills' part, Trig Richards made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Salem Hills is 2-1 when Richards allows two or fewer earned runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Richards was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Kaleb DeGraffenried and Mason Ward did most of the damage at the plate: DeGraffenried scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Ward scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave DeGraffenried a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Guss Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Salem Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Salem Hills' win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Timpview, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
