Baseball Recap: Midland Find Success

Midland came out on top against Henry-Senachwine on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Timberwolves walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Mallards. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 on Wednesday.

Owen LaRoe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. He is becoming a predictor of Midland's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-0-2 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). LaRoe was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Dom Rosa was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Sam Lord also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The win got Midland back to even at 7-7-2. As for Henry-Senachwine, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Coming up, Midland will host ROWVA/Williamsfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Henry-Senachwine, they will head out to take on Illini Bluffs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mallards' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season.
