Baseball Recap: Ross Has No Trouble Against Whitmer

After losing to Whitmer the last time they met, Ross decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Little Giants put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-1 victory on Friday. The Little Giants not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 11-1).

Karson Kayden was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Ross is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-7 otherwise. Kayden was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Breylen Garza, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. He has become a key player for Ross: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Robert Rich Jr, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Ross always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

The win got Ross back to even at 8-8. As for Whitmer, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coming up, Ross will venture away from home to challenge Springfield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Whitmer, they will welcome Anthony Wayne at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Generals' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
