Basketball Recap: Batesburg-Leesville Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

If Ninety Six wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Batesburg-Leesville, they should've done a better job of containing Braylen Davis. The Batesburg-Leesville Panthers put the hurt on the Ninety Six Wildcats with a sharp 66-46 victory on Tuesday thanks in part to Davis, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Naesean Stewart, who posted ten points and seven rebounds. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Ninety Six lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kobi Quarles, who went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points. That's the most points Quarles has posted since back in December of 2024. Carson Reynolds was another key player, putting up six points and nine boards.

Batesburg-Leesville is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Ninety Six, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Batesburg-Leesville will take on American Leadership Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Batesburg-Leesville is facing American Leadership Academy at the right time seeing as American Leadership Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Ninety Six, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Ninety Six Wildcats face off against the Saluda Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Saluda will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Ninety Six surely won't give up without a fight.
